The Crucible has 9 adjustable leaves that allow you to control the intensity of the flames by restricting the airflow and redirecting the smoke. When the night is over, you can close all of the leaves and use the included grill plate as a spark guard so you can sleep peacefully knowing the fire will safely burn down to a fine ash.
Fire literally means to "release heat". The Crucible wood fire pit brings back the heat that is strangely missing from "smokeless fire pits". If you want to enjoy the communal and healing warmth of a fire with a group of friends then the Crucible is the only outdoor fire pit you'll ever want.
The Crucible is made of robust Corten steel which develops a beautiful brown patina over the first 6 - 12 months of outdoor exposure. The patina protects the steel from any further deterioration, ensuring that your fire pit grill will last for decades to come.Â
The combination of Crucible's striking shape and beautifully aged Corten steel will become a much-loved work of art that your friends will admire and your neighbors will covet.
The perfect companion to the Crucible is the Firebrand Infernorator, the original blow-through fireplace poker. An innovative design that is equally useful and beautiful. You can stoke the embers, fan the flames, and safely adjust and carry the Crucible’s leaves and grill plates with this masterfully designed fire tool. And why not add Firebrand Viper fireplace tongs to complete the set?
Crucible is manufactured in the USA. It was designed by Ed Cruikshank, an award-winning bespoke furniture designer in Queenstown, New Zealand. Firebrand products are a unique combination of industrial design expertise, Kiwi ingenuity, and USA manufacturing know-how.
Crucible comes in 3 customizable forms:
Crucible Fire Pits are crafted from robust Corten steel, built to withstand the rigors of outdoor use and is designed to age gracefully. Over the first 6 - 12 months of outdoor exposure, the Crucible develops a stunning brown patina, adding a touch of rustic elegance to its appearance. This natural patina not only enhances the aesthetics of the fire pit, but it also serves as a protective layer, preventing further deterioration of the steel.
Corten steel, also known as weathering steel or corrosion-resistant steel. It is designed to form a protective layer of rust on its surface when exposed to atmospheric conditions, which helps to protect the underlying metal from further corrosion.
Corten steel was developed in the 1930s by the United States Steel Corporation as a material for railroad coal wagons. It has since been used in a variety of applications, including building facades, bridges, sculptures, and outdoor art installations.
One of the unique features of Corten steel is its ability to self-heal. As the protective rust layer forms on its surface, it seals the underlying metal from further exposure to moisture and oxygen, slowing down the rate of corrosion. This makes it a popular choice for outdoor applications where durability and weather resistance are important.
The Crucible Fire Pit & BBQ comes in 3 parts: 1 Base Plate, 12 interchangeable legs/leaves, and 1 or more grill plates. The base plate weighs approximately 25 lbs and slides into the large carry bag. The 12 legs/leaves weigh a combined 25 lbs and goes into a separate smaller bag. And the grill plates weigh roughly 2 lbs each. So in total it is between 50 - 55 lbs.
Yes. As tempting as it is to immediately start flippin’ burgers and cooking up your first mouth-watering meal, the grill needs to be seasoned to get the best results from your BBQ fire pit.
Seasoning is the method of curing the metal and burning off any oils or coatings from the manufacturing process. It creates a barrier between the metal and the food and helps protect the grill and extend its lifespan. With regular maintenance, seasoning also makes the post-BBQ cleaning a lot easier. It will provide you with the best cooking surface to produce quality meals on your Crucible wood fire pit.

Without regular and proper cleaning, you run the risk of accumulating abrasive ash, so always clean your fire pit after each use since. It is important to wait until the wood ash has completely cooled down before you start cleaning.
