Crucible's unique shape and aged Corten steel make it more than just a fire pit—it's a stunning piece of art. Its geometric design and weathered steel combine to create a beautiful and functional fire pit that will definitely make your neighbors jealous.
Crucible is designed to go where you go. Unpacking, assembling, dismantling, and packing it flat into the heavy-duty carry bags takes just a few minutes. Compact and conveniently stored into its carry bag, this portable fire pit is perfect for camping trips in your truck, overlanding rig, camper, or RV. With its ultra-slim 3" profile, it can easily fit into even the narrowest spaces, ensuring that you can "bring the heat" wherever your adventures take you.
Crucible features 12 interchangeable "leaves," giving you the flexibility to adapt to any situation. By using 3 leaves as legs, you can elevate the fire pit to provide 10 inches of clearance off the ground. The remaining 9 leaves drop in around the base plate of this portable fire pit.
The leaves serve a dual purpose: not only do they allow you to easily adjust the intensity of the flames by folding in a few leaves, but they also offer control over smoke. If your family or friends are getting smoke in their eyes, simply fold in all 9 leaves to enjoy a near smokeless fire pit experience.
Unlike popular smokeless fire pits that are also “heatless” and require you to buy an optional heat deflector, Crucible is the only portable fire pit made from solid steel. It radiates ample heat even when the leaves are folded in. You won't need to invest in expensive and unnecessary accessories—the Crucible provides both a near smokeless experience and substantial heat, making it the best choice among portable fire pits.
Each of the 12 leaves is crafted from sturdy 10-gauge steel, adding up to a total weight of approximately 25 lbs when placed in the small carry bag. The base plate, constructed from rock-solid 3/16" steel, slides into the larger carry bag along with the grate plates. Together, they weigh around 25 lbs as well.
For efficient storage, the small bag can be neatly placed inside the larger bag, saving space and resulting in a combined weight of roughly 50 lbs. When on the move, you have the flexibility to carry the bags separately—each weighing 25 lbs—using the included shoulder strap on the larger bag.
Many of the most popular portable camp grills and smokeless fire pits are made in China from thin stainless steel which is easily dented and scratched. Or, they’re made from low-grade steel which will quickly rust and last no more than a season or two.
Crucible is proudly manufactured in the USA using thick Corten Weathering Steel. Corten, invented by US Steel in the 1930s for railroad cars, has since found applications in bridges, buildings, and art projects due to its durability, unique weathering properties, and beautiful appearance.
Over the initial 6 to 12 months of outdoor exposure, the Crucible undergoes a natural transformation, developing a stunning brown patina. This patina not only enhances its aesthetic appeal but also serves as a protective barrier, safeguarding the steel from rust, corrosion, and other weathering effects. Every Crucible has a lifetime, money-back guarantee.
The robust steel construction of Crucible enables it to withstand intense heat for any occasion. While many enjoy the ambiance and aromas of burning wood, if you find yourself in a location with restrictions on open fires, you can easily switch to charcoal or pellets with this portable camp gril. Regardless of your fuel choice, you can still savor the radiant heat while preparing breakfast or dinner on the camp grill, ensuring a delightful outdoor cooking experience.
Once the coals in your portable fire pit bbq are burning hot, simply add 1, 2, or 3 grill grates for a combined total of 340 square inches of cooking space, perfect for grilling steaks, chicken, veggies, and more. Whether you prefer cooking directly on the grill grates or using cast iron cookware, the grates can easily support both options. Additionally, you can place a single grill grate on top of the folded-in leaves to support a kettle or Dutch oven.
The height of the grill grates from the heat is adjustable, allowing you to achieve perfect cooking results every time. The expandability and flexibility makes Crucible the best portable camp grill you can buy. It's worth noting that the cooking grates are crafted from carbon steel and should be seasoned with Canola oil, much like seasoning a cast iron skillet.
As the evening draws to a close, simply fold in all of the leaves of the Crucible fire pit and place a grill grate on top to serve as a spark guard. Despite the leaves being folded in, the solid steel construction ensures that the Crucible continues to radiate a significant amount of heat. Any remaining wood and coals will gradually burn down to a fine ash over the course of a few hours.
Once the Crucible fire pit and the ash have fully cooled down, the cleanup process is simple. Remove a few leaves, sweep out the ash into a safe receptacle, such as a metal container with a lid. Wipe off the leaves and base plate, then pack them back into the carry bags, and you’re good to go to your next destination.
A reminder to always dispose of the ashes responsibly in the designated area provided by the campground. Never leave hot ashes unattended or dispose of them in a manner that could potentially pose a fire risk. By following these precautions, you help ensure the safety of yourself, others, and the surrounding environment.
Crucible is simply the best portable fire pit grill available. Every element of its design and materials was meticulously chosen to meet the utmost standards of quality, usability, and durability. Made in the USA, from Corten weathering steel, it’s virtually indestructible. You will have to leave it in your will because it’s not going anywhere!
Alternative fire pits initially appear less expensive but require pricey add-ons to match the built-in features of Crucible. They charge extra ($$$) for accessories like the carry bag, carry handle, grill grates, spark guard, protective lid, protective cover, stand/base/legs, and a heat deflector. When you add them all up, the Crucible Deluxe Edition is 35 - 50% less expensive because these accessories are either included or unnecessary.

Crucible comes in 3 customizable forms:
Crucible Fire Pits are crafted from robust Corten steel, built to withstand the rigors of outdoor use and is designed to age gracefully. Over the first 6 - 12 months of outdoor exposure, the Crucible develops a stunning brown patina, adding a touch of rustic elegance to its appearance. This natural patina not only enhances the aesthetics of the fire pit, but it also serves as a protective layer, preventing further deterioration of the steel.
Corten steel, also known as weathering steel or corrosion-resistant steel. It is designed to form a protective layer of rust on its surface when exposed to atmospheric conditions, which helps to protect the underlying metal from further corrosion.
Corten steel was developed in the 1930s by the United States Steel Corporation as a material for railroad coal wagons. It has since been used in a variety of applications, including building facades, bridges, sculptures, and outdoor art installations.
One of the unique features of Corten steel is its ability to self-heal. As the protective rust layer forms on its surface, it seals the underlying metal from further exposure to moisture and oxygen, slowing down the rate of corrosion. This makes it a popular choice for outdoor applications where durability and weather resistance are important.
The Crucible Fire Pit & BBQ comes in 3 parts: 1 Base Plate, 12 interchangeable legs/leaves, and 1 or more grill plates. The base plate weighs approximately 25 lbs and slides into the large carry bag. The 12 legs/leaves weigh a combined 25 lbs and goes into a separate smaller bag. And the grill plates weigh roughly 2 lbs each. So in total it is between 50 - 55 lbs.
Yes. As tempting as it is to immediately start flippin’ burgers and cooking up your first mouth-watering meal, the grill needs to be seasoned to get the best results from your BBQ fire pit.
Seasoning is the method of curing the metal and burning off any oils or coatings from the manufacturing process. It creates a barrier between the metal and the food and helps protect the grill and extend its lifespan. With regular maintenance, seasoning also makes the post-BBQ cleaning a lot easier. It will provide you with the best cooking surface to produce quality meals on your Crucible wood fire pit.

Without regular and proper cleaning, you run the risk of accumulating abrasive ash, so always clean your fire pit after each use since. It is important to wait until the wood ash has completely cooled down before you start cleaning.
